NLG-SFBA Membership Meeting - Abolition of Prisons and Police

Registration is closed for this event
NLG-SFBA will be organizing monthly membership meetings and engagements for more discussion on pressing political issues, strategic differences, culture shifts, relationship building and current events. Our Membership Coordinator Brittany Henry will be facilitating each of these events and can be contacted for more details or to share discussion topics at membership@nlgsf.org.

Starting this month and continuing throughout the year, there will be membership events and workshops around designated topics. This offers a chance for members to hear and engage with others in our community who are actively organizing and engaging within the subject matter presented.

Our first virtual membership meeting of the year will be a deeper dive into one of the three topics we discussed during our membership meeting in December, "Abolition of Prisons and Police".  Analyzing the history of systemic consequences the US penal system has produced in relation to voter suppression, police brutality, mass incarceration, and in general state-sanctioned repression.

After hearing different arguments around abolition, a panel of those working on the front lines within organizations involved in the struggle to end mass incarceration and policing will be present. And there will be a chance for members to engage with the topic in both large group discussion and smaller breakout room discussions with further points of action provided to members who would like to further plug in. We hope to see all of our members in good standing in attendance.

If you are unsure about you standing as a member or have input to provide please be sure to reach out to Brittany Henry, our membership coordinator, with that feedback (membership@nlgsf.org).
